Excellent first chapter! Given your location, Captain Cook and “South Pacific” came to mind as I read your modern day travels.. “Mangoes and bananas you can pick right off a tree,” from There Is Nothing Like A Dame, seemed to rhyme with papayas and coconuts Vigo handed you from his backyard. And basketball with CS and the lads had echoes of the blood sports Captain Cook encountered among the natives, which involved war clubs and fatalities, including Capt. Cook himself. Ehh, it’s only scuffling and shoving ever since the damned white missionaries arrived…
Keep me posted on all colorful dress-up events that involve horns and noisemakers and blocked streets. It’s still parade season back in New England and I want to see how these things are handled in the other hemisphere. Runners with torches reminds me of the time the Upper Valley Community Band froze its ass off one dark Fall evening waiting for a guy in shorts to pass through Lebanon on his way to lighting the Olympic Flame. Ah, memories!

It’s always good to have you back as a reader, Jim! Your jazz riffs on the content are always entertaining!
What an amazing place. I am going to closely monitor your ability to find Bubble Tea!
Yes, stay tuned! Eastern Asian makes the hunt pretty easy, but I’m feeling proud about the Cook Islands!
